The books and sanitary materials collection for the children of our Romanian brothers from Crihana Veche Village, Cahul District – Republic of Moldova

Between October 2020 – March 2021, following the initiative of the Orthodox Parish and the Saint Elijah Association, from the village of Poiana Sărată – Oituz, Bacău County (twinned village, even through blood relatives, with Crihana Veche), the Romanian Reserve Officers Association (AORR), together with the National Association of Reserve and Retired Military Personnel from Romania-Sector 5 Bucharest, the “Romanian Military Traditions-Bacău” Association, the Orthodox Parish Poiana Sărată from Bacău County and the “Saint Elijah -Poiana Sărată” Association carried out an extensive action of purchasing/collecting sanitary materials and books in Romanian language, for educational institutions in Crihana Veche (“Mihai Eminescu” Gymnasium – with 262 students and 40 teachers and auxiliary staff – “Clopotelul” Kindergarten in the village – with 150 children and 40 employees -, and the Communal Public Library).

As a result of the collection action, were purchased/collected three Body Temperature Detectors, 60 pencil boxes for children, 100 liters of disinfectants (hands and surfaces), 200 liters liquid soap, 10,000 protective masks, 2,500 books from Romanian and universal literature, dictionaries, etc., which were donated to the “Răsăritul Românesc” Association, from the Republic of Moldova to be distributed to the beneficiaries.

Later, Colonel (Ret.) Balla Viorel, donated 714 new books from the theater and sports fields, which he “saved” from melting and personally sent to Crihana Veche.

Special thanks to Mrs. Rodica CUCEREANU, former Mayor of the Village of Crihana Veche and signatory of the twinning act with the Village of Poiana Sărată – Oituz from Bacău County, Colonel (Ret.) Victor CHIRILOAIE, the Mayor of Oancea Village from Galati County and, last but not least, Mr. Vlad CUBREACOV, the President of the “Rasaritul Romanesc” Association, for his special involvement in storing the materials, transport from the country to recipients and their distribution to the above mentioned institutions.
