An AORR delegation represented Romania during the CIOR Virtual Mid-Winter Meeting

Between 20-21.02.2021, a delegation from the Romanian Reserve Officers Association (AORR), led by Brig.Gen. (r) Costantin Postolache, Vice-president of the Association and accompanied by Col. (r) Craisor-Constantin Ionita, as VP at CIOR, Col. (r) Mihai Radu, member of AORR and participant in the DEFSEC Committee, Col. (r) Ion Panait, President of the Argeș branch of AORR and participant in the YRO Committee, 2nd Lt (vol.rs.) Bogdan Jar, member of AORR and participant in the MILCOMP Committee and 2nd Lt (vol.rs.) Cătălin Florea, member of AORR and participant in the STRATCOM Committee, participated in the virtual works of the CIOR Mid-Winter Meeting/V-MWM) held in the online environment, through the Zoom platform, as a result of the measures taken at European level to prevent SARS-Cov 2 infection.

The main purpose of the CIOR / CIOMR V-MWM was to discuss and approve the legal status of CIOR as a non-profit organization under Belgian law, as well as the financial situation of the Confederation for past year and the proposed revenue and expenditure plan for 2021. Other objectives were presenting the cooperation situation with the National Reserve Forces Committee (NRFC), establishing the future of the NATO Reserve Forces Platform (NMRN) from ACT, proposals for future CIOR presidents and organizing the Summer Congresses and IBM meetings, establishing activities for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of CIOR and IT issues.

The members of the Romanian delegation presented concrete proposals within the topics addressed, especially reiterating the possibility of organizing a YROS Course in 2022 in Romania. AORR replied to the Questionnaire on the use of Reserve Forces within NATO, a questionnaire that had to completed by 31.03.2020.

Following the discussions and depending on the future of the persistent situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic at European level, it was established that the meeting of this year’s CIOR Summer Congress will take place physically, between 01 – 07.08.2021, in Athens, in Greece, also having a virtual plan B.

In order to conclude the Partnership Agreement with the German Federal Association of Reserve Officers (VdRBw), its president will travel this year in Romania, when the pandemic situation will allow it.
