AORR, co-organizer and attendant at an international conference about regional security, in Poland

During the period 17 – 18 October 2019, it took palce, in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski, Poland, the 2019 International Conference of Experts with the topic “From Intermarium to Three Seas Initiative”. Integration and Collective Security Conceptions in Central and Eastern Europe in the 20th and 21st Centuries”. The activity was organised by the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and the Central European Institute for Strategic Research and Analysis (CIRSA), under the aegis of the National Security Bureau of the Polish Presidency.

The activity was attended by a significant number of experts from the Polish and international university environment, from the Polish Ministry of Defense, CIRSA and NATO education and training structures, representing 10 countries.

The Association of Reserve Officers from Romania participated, as co-organiser, through a delegation consisting of: 1st Lt. (r) Valentin BERCA and dr. Alba Iulia Catrinel POPESCU.

The main topics addressed at the conference were: NATO-Russia rivalry; the role played by Central and Eastern Europe integrated into the Three Seas Initiative, in the regional geopolitical game; the division of the EU or the counterbalancing of the Franco-German power; relationships between participating States in the initiative; the political and economic constructions of the 21st Century; the status of Ukraine in the new balance of power.

An important moment during the Conference was the rememory of the historical friendly relations between Romania and Poland, which was noted in the opening of the conference proceedings – 80 years ago, on the night of October 17-18, 1939, the Polish Government in exile was received with love, but also with maximum responsibility, in the sumptuous palace Jean Mihail of Craiova, transformed today into the Art Museum.

At the organizers’ invitation, Mrs. Alba Popescu moderated one of the Conference panels and gave an interview to a local TV station.
