A delegation of AORR has met with the Polish Defense Attaché, Col. Jerzy JANKOWSKI

On 15May 2019, a delegation of the Romanian Reserve Officers Association (AORR), led by Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Virgil BALACEANU, PhD, AORR President, accompanied by Col. (Ret) Crăişor-Constantin IONIŢĂ, PhD, together with Mr. Viorel MANOLE, the Executive Director of PATROMIL and Cder Cristian-Emil MOLDOVEAN, PhD, Deputy Dean for Inter-universities Relations of the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I” (ATM), had the pleasure to meet with the Polish Defense Attaché, Col. Jerzy JANKOWSKI (POL-A) at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to Bucharest.

The meeting took place following the AORR President’s request for support sent to the Polish Ambassador, His Excellency Marcin WILCZEK, regarding the conduct of the SECDEF 19 International Expert Conference in Bucharest, on 7-9 November 2019, organized by AORR and ATM, together with the Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski College for Business and Entrepreneurship and the Central European Strategic Research and Analysis Institute (CIRSA). Director Manole aimed to attract Polish defense industry into the organization of a panel for the development of multinational defense capabilities and realization of an armaments exhibition. The bilateral talks focused on the knowledge of the current status of the international scientific event, as well as the concrete actions the Embassy of the Republic of Poland can undertake to support the conference. In particular, the Defense Attaché was asked that the Embassy of the Republic of Poland should become a supporting institution on the conference website.  Mr. Manole asked for his intervention at the Polish Ministry of Defense for the organisation of this year’s bi-lateral meeting of the Romanian-Polish Joint Committee for developing defense capabilities in the same period and location with SECDEF 19. The Romanian party has committed itself to the same discussion with the Department of Armaments in the National Defense Ministry.

Colonel Jankowski underlined the willingness of the Bureau of the Defence Attaché of the  Embassy of the Republic of Poland to support our Association in preparing and conducting the conference, notably by advertising the event at the Polish military academics and defense industry institutions level, requesting also the participation of Polish Security and Defense personalities in the academic environment, as well as by carrying out armament exhibitions, if feasible.

A separate point of discussions, but closely related to the conduct of SECDEF 19, was Mr. Manole’s idea to involve the Turkish defense industry in this eventby organizing a joint Forum of the two countries’ Ministries of Economy (SEDECBALKAN) at the beginning of the Conference, to represent its bilateral and possibly trilateral development with Poland, of the defense industries of those states.
